Author Extra: Dragon Touched by JB McDonald

Dragon Touched by JB McDonald

Being called a demon and given suspicious looks has become old hat for Ashe,
depressing as it is. But a mob attack leaves him shaken, aware of the danger
he's in every time he walks out of the palace. With no purpose, no friends,
and a culture that hates him, Ashe is barely putting one foot in front of
the other. He wants to go home.

Katsu wants to go home, too, but first he has to fulfill his duties. The
problem is that every time he finishes one thing, something else needs his
attention. If Ashe will just be patient, Katsu will figure it out. But Ashe
is running out of patience, and the boys are learning that sometimes, love
isn't enough. Katsu knows the solution is there, if he can just find it...
before everything falls apart.

Author Extra:

"Shh," Ashe admonished while straddling Katsu, though he couldn't quite stop
the laugh in his voice. "People will hear you."

Katsu only smirked and thrust upward a little, so Ashe could feel the bulge
in his pants. Ashe pressed their foreheads together, grinning before he
captured Katsu's mouth in a kiss.

Katsu made encouraging noises, and Ashe broke the kiss to laugh again.
"Would you stop?" But he wasn't really upset. Embarrassed, maybe, but not
upset.

The cloth walls that made up the palace weren't exactly conducive to
muffling noise, even if they were beautiful to look at. It made sex a little
awkward -- at least for Ashe, who didn't want to regale everyone with their
activities.

Katsu seemed to have no such compunctions. "Stop what? I didn't say
anything." He rolled his hips again.

Ashe tugged the hair band holding Katsu's hair in a queue, pulling it free
and tossing it on the floor nearby. "Uh huh. You're a bad man, Katsu." A bad
man that he was thoroughly going to enjoy.

He'd barely seen any of Katsu over the last few days, as more business piled
up and more people asked more things of Katsu: once prince, now trusted
adviser. Now, Ashe planned on seeing a great deal of Katsu. All of Katsu,
actually.

He nipped at Katsu's round, human ears, feeling five-fingered hands sliding
up his back, tracing the outline of lean muscle.

The bell outside the entrance chimed. Ashe ignored it in favor of licking
the shell of Katsu's ear, glorying in Katsu's quick inhalation.

Someone cleared their throat. Since Ashe knew it wasn't him, and since
Katsu's mouth was currently occupied sucking a red mark into his neck, it
had to be someone new. Someone really determined.

Ashe's heart sank. He pulled away and twisted, glaring at the doorway. It
was open -- there were no doors, here, only screens that provided privacy.
He couldn't say much in Katsu's tongue, but he did manage a credible, "Go
away."

"Come in," Katsu said, sounding resigned, annoyed, and authoritative all at
once.

Irritated, Ashe swung off Katsu's lap and stalked to the little table where
a pitcher of tepid water and a few mugs sat. From the corner of his eye, he
saw a woman enter and bow deeply. She spoke in the native language, which
meant Ashe only caught one out of every three words. Something, if he was
understanding right, about the princess Chieko, the queen, and purple
underclothes.

He might have gotten that last one wrong.

He sipped water from his mug, not bothering to hide his building
frustration. But if the messenger was aware of the daggers being shot her
way, she didn't show it. She didn't even acknowledge him.

Reluctantly, Katsu turned to him. "Ashe--"

"No." Ashe set the mug down with a click. He turned to the messenger and
repeated the word. "Nai." Then he made the little speech he'd so carefully
rehearsed. He didn't even understand it all himself, and he suspected --
when the messenger ducked her head and Katsu's eyes widened -- it maybe
wasn't as polite as his translator had told him.

But it did the trick. The messenger bowed deeply, and left.

In the silence that followed, Ashe adjusted his pants. "What?" he asked
self-consciously, when Katsu kept staring at him.

"You just told her it was my time off, our time together, and that if she
didn't leave you'd summon the dragon."

Well, actually, that was pretty much exactly what he'd asked Daisuke to
teach him to say. "Good," Ashe said firmly.

"Ashe," Katsu continued slowly, as if Ashe might not quite understand this,
"you just threatened her soul for doing her job."

Okay, maybe that was a little extreme. "You people have weird assumptions
about dragons," he said defensively. "And it is our time together." He
glared. "You promised. No interruptions."

Katsu's expression eased a little, softening. Amusement touched his
features, and he sat back. Tension drained out of his shoulders. "You
know... you're changing."

"For the better?" Ashe asked nervously.

Katsu gave a short laugh. "I'm not sure. But I like it."

Ashe grinned, relieved. He gave a jaunty little skip, heading back toward
Katsu. "Well, then let me show you how else I'm changing. Up, doctor, and
strip off those clothes. I want you in bed."

Author Extra - He Loves Me For My Brainsss

Is there anything as relaxing as sitting on a cruise ship, sipping a drink with your well-sated partner at your side? Sounds divine, doesn`t it? Today my leading men, Paul and Gordon, from the novella Two Guys Walk into an Apocalypse, one of several stories in the He Loves Me For My Brainssss anthology, take a moment to reminisce about past vacations and their favorite drinks. Hopefully they aren`t interrupted by those damned pesky zombies but, you know, they are in the middle of a zombie uprising….

*~*~*

Somewhere on the road

I glanced over at Gordon, his long legs bent oddly under the dashboard, trying to get comfortable enough to doze in the passenger seat. Our neighbor, Colonel Richards and our cat, Tallahassee, had claimed the back seat and were slumbering away as if I hadn`t just clipped a zombie cheerleader alongside the road with our bumper.

“Sleeping in cars sucks,” Gordon growled, tossing around violently.

“Do you remember when we went on that cruise last summer to the Virgin Islands?” I asked, my mind dredging up a similar tirade from my partner. Sleepy brown eyes met my quick glance.

“Yeah, I remember it,” he said cautiously, “Why?”

“Do you recall how much time we spent in our cabin making love on that trip?”

“Sure, we missed dinner almost every night,” he smiled then sat up, apparently giving up on the notion of sleep. I turned the car stereo down so we could talk as confidentially as possible.

“Remember that one night was when you discovered you could hold yourself up on your toes and knuckles for at least thirty minutes,” I winked, roaming over into the left land to avoid an overturned SUV.

“Oh man, I had cramps so bad that night, remember?!” he chuckled then ran a hand through his rumpled brown hair.

“I remember. It was me that you woke up four times during the night with your overly dramatic screams of pain.” We rolled back into the right lane, leaving the still smoldering vehicle behind. There was no point in stopping to check. We had done that a few times when we first were on the road and it never ended well.

“Hey, they weren`t overly dramatic,” he hissed, “Cramps hurt like hell. Oh, remember that waiter who thought you were Shaun Cassidy?”

Leave it to Gordon to recall that. I made a face. “Yes, I remember him quite well. He wanted me to meet him in the linen closet and kept plying me with free Zombie`s for the duration of the cruise.”

“You could have told him you were with me.”

“And give up free cocktails?! Silly man,” I snorted, letting my mind drift back to those tall tasty drinks. “I would kill for a nice cold Zombie right about now,” I sighed. No sooner said than done. A lanky man in a ratty business suit stumbled out into the road, his eyes yellow, his chin smeared with blood and green bile. I hit the gas and sent the zombie flying. “Why don`t my appeals for a threesome with Gordon and Jason Momoa ever come true?” I asked those eternally fickle fates.

*~*~*

What is your favorite cocktail? I`m rather partial to a Margarita but this Zombie sure sounds good!

Recipe for a Zombie

Twenty-three-year-old Cam Phillips is a waiter at Newark Airport’s The
Layover and has aspirations of owning his own restaurant in New York. With a
lust for older men and stormy eyes that demand affection, Cam has a troubled
past with airport regulars that includes bathroom rendezvouses.

Every Thursday night, Cam rebuffs the advance of Anderson Montgomery, a
corporate lawyer more than a decade older, who always sits at Table 26.
Anderson seems different from Cam’s usual encounters, having class and
offering kindness, but Cam’s troubled past keeps him from committing to a
relationship that seems more take than give. What is he willing to give to
Anderson, and what can he give—other than cayenne pepper in Anderson’s
meals?

Author Extra:

“Excuse me.”

Anderson lowered his fork to the golden plate. “Don’t, Cam. You remember
what happened the last time we ate out.”

Cam still raised his hand toward the man huddling in the corner of the tiny
but elegant restaurant. “This is all wrong, Anderson. It can’t be
tolerated.”

“Just let it go.”

“This? Coming from a lawyer?” Cam scoffed. “It’s okay when you read briefs
in bed, but I can’t—”

“I do more than just read briefs, Cam. I also tear them and lick—”

“Stop!” Cam felt the heat rush to his cheeks, knowing Anderson’s words to be
true. “I’m trying to educate the ignorant here.”

Anderson wiped his mouth with a napkin. “You just want to show-off.”

“And you just want to fight.” Cam waved his hand. “Excuse me. Waiter!”

“I’m good at fighting. It’s my job.”

“And your hobby and your tactic to curb boredom. WAITER!”

The older man in a tuxedo finally came to Cam’s side. “Is there a problem,
sir?”

“Yes,” Anderson interjected. “My partner is a hypocrite.”

“And my partner is a conceited, judgmental corporate drone.”

“I never drone.”

“And my partner is also a liar, and so is your chef.” Cam motioned to his
plate. “This is pan-fried, not stir-fried.”

Anderson rolled his eyes.

The waiter bent closer to look at the plate. “I’m sorry, sir?”

“Stir-fried food is cooked in smaller pieces and at higher temperatures than
pan-fried, and don’t get me started on the napkin folding. It’s atrocious.”

“Cam, stop tormenting the poor waiter.”

“Who owns this place?”

“We don’t need to speak to the owner.” Anderson shook his head, throwing his
napkin on his plate.

Cam shot him an embittered glare. “Yes, I do. This is an affront to
restaurant owners, waiters, and stir-fry everywhere.”

Anderson rose from the table, throwing down a copious amount of bills.
“We’ll be going now.”

“No, we won’t be. Sit down, Anderson. This needs to be corrected or the chef
will be making this mistake the rest of his professional life.”

“CAMERON!” Anderson’s raised voice thundered in the small dining room. “Just
because this restaurant doesn’t meet your impossible standards doesn’t mean
that a) we can’t eat in it and b) you have to condemn all its workers to the
lowest levels of Hell.”

“ANDERSON!” Cam screamed, crossing his arms and daring to meet the older
man’s scathing glare. “Just because you are a corporate lawyer doesn’t mean
a) you always have to have the last word and b) you always have to win
because guess what. You won’t.”

A wicked smirk swirled in Cam’s gut, and he gasped when Anderson wrenched
him out of his chair. He found the table far more interesting upside down on
Anderson’s shoulder as the older man laughed, “A) yes, I do and b) yes, I do
and will.”

“You bas—”

Cam howled at the sharp slap on his ass, which almost drowned out Anderson’s
question to the waiter. “Where’s your bathroom?”

Scotch never imagined that his first time would be in the backseat of a car,
but his new boyfriend Jimmy can talk him into anything. As snow falls
outside, they talk, laugh, and discover brand new things about one another.

Author Extra:
I’m not done with Scotch and Jimmy! Here’s a little slice of the boys later
on in their relationship:

As they traversed over the ruins of Arcadia Playland, Scotch aimed his
camera at the wistful rise of the broken back roller coaster, the
sun-bleached signs that once luridly described a haunted house, and carousel
horses fallen from their eternal gallop to rest fragmented in the foliage.
Yet his attention was drawn time and time again away from the eerie remains
of someone’s summer memories to the very real and alive presence of Jimmy.
Beautiful Jimmy with his broad shoulders, bright eyes and easy smile, who
loved forgotten things.

Scotch sometimes wondered if he was one of Jimmy’s lost objects. He imagined
being tucked into that wash softened pocket along with Canadian pennies,
paperclip sculptures, and rusted keys for unknown doors. There were worse
fates, he supposed.

“Hey look, the teacups.” Jimmy reached back, tugging on the edge of Scotch’s
sleeve. “I could never figure out why something so evil had such a sweet
name. My brother used to spin me around on it until I puked.”

“I liked them.”

Scotch hadn’t had a brother or a sister. He’d sat alone in the lazily
turning cup and let the world melt away.

“Didn’t they make you dizzy?” Against all good sense, Jimmy was stepping up
onto the rusted platform. It took his wait uneasily, voicing it’s
displeasure with a thick throated creak.

“That’s the point. Should you be up there?”

“Its safe. Even if it collapses, it’s only going to fall a foot or two.”
Jimmy took another step and then another towards the first chipped cup. It’s
rim was a dusky rose that had probably once been a ferocious red. “Safer
than poking around one of the buildings anyway. Are you coming?”

Scotch let his camera fall with a thump to his chest, before setting his
foot uneasily onto the platform. It moaned softly as if resigned to the
disturbance. He hoisted himself up, then stumbled a little over a branch.
Jimmy caught his elbow, steadying him. Together they approached the still
teacup, it’s seat covered in snow and fallen leaves. With a broad sweep of
his arm, Jimmy cleared most of it away.

“In another few years, you won’t even know this was ever here.” With a slow
reverence, Jimmy took a seat and set his hands on the wheel that sprouted in
the center of the cup. “The weeds and the trees will swarm all over it, bury
it.”

“Here lies the Arcadia Playland, may she rest in peace.” Scotch muttered,
sliding in next to Jimmy. The seat was wet and cold where the snow had been
wiped away. It seeped through his pants and sent shivers over his skin.

Sonya pulled out a long, wavy black skirt from her closet.

“Ha!” she showed it with flourish. “This is perfect.”

“Come on, I can’t wear that…” Sam turned pleading puppy eyes at his

“Don’t be a rotten carrot,” Sonya squinted her eyes at him and pursed her
lips. “You’ll wear this, you lost the bet.”

“Why are you doing this to me?” Sam was lying on the bed, hiding his face in
a pillow.

Sonya sighed and sat down next to him, petting his back.

“Think about it this way. If he cares about the skirt, then he’s superficial
and doesn’t deserve you. It would be best to know now than have your heart
broken again.”

“You’re right,” Sam turned with a smile. “You’ve always been a good friend,

under his breath, but let her dress him up like a doll.

He had a good feeling about this anyway.

Morning Rituals & Daily Routines

Almost everyone has some kind of morning ritual, whether it involves getting kids ready for school, getting ready for work, or any number of plans for the day. For me, my ritual starts around 6 AM. James (my son) is always the first one awake. We get up, he gets his bath and breakfast, does any homework, then spends a little while playing Minecraft on his dad's computer. Nadia gets up around 6:30 or 7, and basically follows the same routine. They catch the bus at 8:10, and then MY day begins.

My favorite part of the day is a small window of time when the kids are gone and it's just me and the pup. My oldest daughter and my partner are still sound asleep, and the house is blessedly quiet. That's when I do one of my favorite activities: yoga. I have a yoga mat--hunter green, ultra-comfy, and a crimson pillow to sit on, but sometimes, I just go into my yoga sequence right in the middle of my kitchen. Why? The kitchen is my domain. I'm an avid cook, and that's where I love to be.

My sequence is gentle and short (about 15 to 20 minutes), but it's become absolutely necessary to me. I practice hatha yoga, and the poses I do are easy on my back and other joints that tend to ache (especially in the colder, rainier weather like today).

Once I'm done, I grab some breakfast and my end of the loveseat (because the pup has the other end), and then it's time to write. Or promo. Or goof around online. I usually end up on Facebook and chatting on various Yahoo groups. I check my class (Art Institute, that is--back in school, finally) multiple times a day, and somewhere in all of that, I manage to get a few words scribbled here and there.

So, that's my daily routine in a nutshell, and it all starts with a morning ritual I can't function without these days.

What about y'all?

New Story by a New Comer, Anna Bayes

Hi everyone! My name is Anna Bayes, I'm a new author at Torquere Press. I'm excited to be here!

So far, I am feeling comfortable with writing short stories, so I might continue with having Sips at Torquere for a while. I've had a New Year Sip out on January 2, and here's a little introduction to it.

Title: Under His Wings, a Torquere Menage

Blurb: Bonnie thought Matt was everything she ever wanted: boyishly charming, understanding and exciting. Then she realized that he had another lover: Sean, an artistic, intensely jealous and handsome man. She tries, and fails to accept herself as the barely tolerated female lover. On New Year’s Eve, she demands a meeting amongst the three. The confrontation sparks dangerous rage, and something else with an entirely different heat level: steamy desire. Can she bring about a reconciliation satisfactory to everyone involved as she surrenders to her passion?

I'm super lucky to have a very supportive and naughty lover. He brings out so much in me; before, I would have blushed crimson if I even read the types of scenarios and one-line teasers we send to each other, but now I revel in them, and keep thinking up new ones to entice him with. He encouraged me to gather my ideas into a story, and I am thrilled with the results! I love writing and putting my emotions on paper. This is definitely one of the best gifts that anyone has given me: the key to a whole new world of unending pleasures.

Well, I hope you'll love reading my debut story as much as I have had fun creating it. I'm quite sure I'll keep them coming. If you want to catch me typing in my lilac lingerie set, try clicking on my blog here!

Start the week sexy,
Anna Bayes

A Sequel At Last

It's been over a year since The Grave Watchers came out and you were all introduced to Sebastien Crowle and his merry band of the undead. Now, it's Augustine's turn. Death's Children takes place some years after the events of the first book upon the awakening of a new Grave Watcher from the grave. Augustine is a girl from the 1940's and the brave new world she awakens to is full of computers, mobile phones, zombies, ghosts and a dangerous enemy from beyond the grave.

Blurb:

Augustine Fleur went into the grave knowing that curiosity killed the cat burglar, when she rose she discovered a world where curiosity kept one alive. A newly risen Grave Watcher, Augustine stumbles through her new world under the guidance of Sebastien Crowle, who has his own baggage. But while Augustine may have left the grave behind, there are those who would much rather she never did.
The Ghost King, a mythical entity of terrible power is stalking her, demanding something be returned to him. Except Augustine has no memory of the theft, and he’s getting impatient. With a grave disturbed in London, and vampires to blame, it also begins to look like the long held peace between vampires and Watchmen is coming to an end.
Augustine must unlock her memories if she’s going to solve the riddle of her time in the grave and save the people she’s come to care for. She may just die again trying.

It was a pleasure to get back into this world, and I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it! Happy reading folks.

Cheers,

Missouri

Winter!

I do love winter and this year where I am, we've had it in spades. There's more than three feet of snow piled up there! It's fantastic. I don't even ski or skate, but I still love the colder weather and the white stuff.

Do you love the snow or would you rather be on a sandy, hot beach?

I have a couple boys who enjoy the snow...

Game designer Henry Delloit loves his life, his mountain community, his isolated dream home in the show. He also loves that the X-treme Games blow into the area for a month every year, bringing with them hundreds of athletes.

Ecco Rasmussen loves boarding; he needs it in fact. He knows he'll never make it to the big times but as long as he can get on his board and go he doesn't care. The only fly in the ointment is his manager Blake Dobbs. The man is possessive and mean and believes he owns Ecco. Given the way he's isolated Ecco and holds all the money, not to mention the way he treats the boarder, Ecco figures maybe he does.

When Henry and Ecco meet at the Branchberry Games, it's lust at first sight. An injury on Ecco's qualifying run gives them the opportunity to spend some quality time alone together at Henry's home, away from the crowds and out from under Blake's thumb.
Will lust have the opportunity to turn into love? More importantly, what will Blake do when he finds out?

It's available here.

Leave a comment letting me know what your favorite weather is and I'll draw a winner on the weekend for a free ebook copy of X-Factor.

Tomas a priest for the vatican is feeling lust for the lovely Joaquin while on a ship. He cannot resist his urges and Joaquin seems to reciprocate this sentiment. After flirtation and inuendo the who stand at a crossroads. Will this be a trip they will never forget?

How many ways can I say loved this. The plot was the best kind of scandalous. The characters were well written and the story was perfectly paced. The only thing better would be if there were more people brave enough to tackle such a theme. A good read for anyone.

****1/2

Devon inherited a home from his familie's estate. It is in great disrepair and in need of a handyman to tend to it. The home is for the workers of the hammer club who make little money. Could the man hired for the job be just the man for Devon?

This was a good story full of drama and sex. It would have merited a whole five stars had the drama in the plot not taken over so much. The back story could have been simplified and the sexual content more prevalent.
