I don't know about monsters as such (although I do love a good vamp or shifter story) but my favorite "Thing that goes BUMP in the night" is the Phantom of the Opera. Not, let us be clear, the creepy, stalkerish, cradle-robber-ing Phantom we're most familiar with, but the Erik that Susan Kay created in her novel, Phantom, in which he's sexier and more sympathetic than Gaston Leroux's vision. But still, plenty anti-hero.
I'm a werewolf girl. It's funny, because as a kid I was way more into Dracula and Anne Rice and vamps, but as an adult romance writer and fan, werewolves are so much hotter!

I personally have always been as long as I can remember a vamp girl. Now granted werewolves are extremely yummy but if I had to choose just one it would be a tall dark and sexy with fangs.
Should have mentioned before: I do love a good demonic type...(brain fried -- too much bleach in a tiny bathroom...yeah, it's THAT day.)
